ABOUT NVCFA

“A Life of Volunteerism is a Life Well Lived.”

The National Volunteer Council on Freedmen Affairs (NVCFA) is a principal team of thought leaders in a national coalition of grassroots reparative justice activists who advocate for lineage-based reparations for American Freedmen (descendants of persons enslaved in the United States of  America.) We also push for a robust legislative Black Agenda which includes substantial reforms in  the areas of education, housing, healthcare, human services, civil rights, restorative and reparative  justice.

Our Story

The National Volunteer Council on Freedmen Affairs (NVCFA) is a pivotal organization dedicated to advocating for reparative and restorative justice for American freedmen—descendants of enslaved individuals in the United States. Founded on the principles of equity, empowerment, and accountability, the NVCFA works tirelessly to address the historical injustices faced by freedmen and their communities. By conducting thorough research, raising public awareness, and fostering collaborations with various social justice organizations, we strive to highlight the ongoing impacts of systemic racism, advocate for meaningful reparations, and promote initiatives that ensure dignity, opportunity, and a brighter future for all. Join us in our mission to restore justice and honor the legacies of those who came before us.
